As a child I have some of my fondest memories going to Farmers Markets, with my grandfather. It was a very personal experience including our eating habits… actually knowing who grew the food we ate. It brought eating into a sphere of care by the food growers and those of us who were the food consumers. No price look-up codes. You know those non-biodegradable, non-compostable stickers put on our fruits and vegetables, to inform cashiers of pricing and consumers of whether or not that piece of produce is conventionally grown or organic. This is a fairly new way of doing the work of informing us about eating foods that have been sprayed with pesticide, insecticides, herbicides or fungicides… PLU stickers. You may ask why is that important? Well with many ailments reaching epidemic proportions like chronic non-communicable diseases (cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, etc.) PLU’s are closely related to the lifestyle choices making what we eat more important than how much we eat!
In the Compassion CHARRETTE’s Lisa Gordon Cain (as Health Coach) will discuss how to never diet and maintain weight without counting calories by keeping score in App’s, and never having to get on a scale. Introducing the Community Supportive Agriculture (CSA’s) in your demographic and inviting you to join us weekly at MOMMYHealth ($5./month fee) to keep up with the strategies on being the best YOU!
